Eleanor M. Manna

Eleanor Marie Manna, 73, of 1155 Outer Drive, Hagerstown, died Thursday, Nov. 26, 1998, at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown.

Born June 16, 1925, in Johnsonburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Natale and Constance Mary Farah Gigliotti.

She was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, and Catholic Daughters.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, P. Paul Manna; five daughters, Kathy Moncovich of Virginia Beach, Va., Joyce Ripple of Hagerstown, Paula Hoffman of Frederick, Md., Connie Manna of Cambridge, Mass., and Sandra Staton of Falling Waters, W.Va.; one son, Paul Frank Manna of Petaluma, Calif.; one brother, Frank Gigliotti of Johnsonburg; six grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Natale Gigliotti, Stephen Gigliotti and Joseph Gigliotti.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 2 p.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church, 1525 Oak Hill Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Andrew S. Mohl as celebrant. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, Washington County Unit, 1037 Haven Road, Hagerstown, MD 21742 or American Heart Association, 322 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown, MD 21740.

William B. Dick Sr.

William Bruce Dick Sr., 87, of 13504 Herman Myers Road, Hagerstown, and formerly of 1080 Virginia Ave., Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998, at Western Maryland Hospital Center.

Born July 10, 1911, in Indian Springs, he was the son of the late Cletus Bernard and Edith Vale Hetzer Dick.

His wife, Pauline Elizabeth Beard Dick, died in 1989.

He owned and operated Bruce's Barber Shop off Salem Avenue.

He was a member of Hagerstown Bible Church, and served on the church council. He also was treasurer of the adult men's Bible class for many years.

He is survived by two sons, the Rev. W. Bruce Dick Jr. of Hagerstown, and the Rev. Argyl L. Dick Sr. of Oklahoma City, Okla.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Louise Dick, Lula Katherine Keesecker and Mary Elizabeth Higgins; and three brothers, Ralph Willard Dick, Charles Perry Dick and Ray Bernard Dick.

Services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Hagerstown Bible Church, 203 Summit Ave., Hagerstown. The Rev. Gerald D. Carbaugh and the Rev. Dale R. Carver will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown, today from 7 to 9 p.m., and at the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Camp Tohiglo, c/o Hagerstown Bible Church, 203 Summit Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21740.

John R. Johnson

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - John R. Johnson, 52, of 3645 Brook St., died Thursday, Nov. 26, 1998, at his home.

Born Dec. 31, 1945, in Hagerstown, he was the son of Doris T. Lowery Johnson of Greencastle, and the late Glenn A. Johnson.

He was a 1964 graduate of Greencastle-Antrim High School. He did volunteer work for Lutheran Social Service's Hospice of the Good Shepherd.

He was employed by Contech Construction Products Inc. in Greencastle for more than 20 years, and formerly employed by Grove Worldwide, Shady Grove, Pa.

He attended Life in Jesus Church, Libertytown, Md.

He was a member of Frank L. Carbaugh American Legion Post 373 in Greencastle, and AMVETS Post 224 in Chambersburg, Pa.

He served in the U.S. Air Force.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Ruby L. Rotz Johnson, whom he married Feb. 6, 1987; one daughter, Tammy Pratt of North Carolina; two sons, Craig Johnson of Waynesboro, Pa., and Jarrett Johnson of Chambersburg; one stepdaughter, Karen Robinson of Hagerstown; one stepson, Steven Horst of Waynesboro; one sister, Donna Lee Johnson of Greencastle; one brother, Terry G. Johnson of Greencastle; and six grandchildren.

Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle. The Rev. Walter Stuart will officiate. Burial will be in Browns Mill Cemetery in Kauffman, Pa.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

Katherine E. Smith

Katherine Elaine Smith, 61, of 20331 Leitersburg Pike, Hagerstown, died Thursday, Nov. 26, 1998, at Western Maryland Hospital Center.

Born Jan. 28, 1937, in Big Springs, she was the daughter of the late James Ervin and Katherine Rebecca Johnson Kline.

She was a graduate of Hagerstown Junior College School of Nursing.

She was employed by Reeder's Memorial Home in Boonsboro, where she was a registered nurse in charge of the second shift.

She was of the Protestant faith.
