Richard F. McCarty

HANCOCK - Richard F. McCarty, 41, of McKinley Drive, died Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998, at his home.

Born Dec. 12, 1956, in Martinsburg, W.Va., he was the son of Francis L. "Buck" McCarty of Hancock and Mary L. Clark Munson of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Darla Rae Brown McCarty, in 1990.

He was a 1975 graduate of Hancock High School.

He was employed for 24 years at the Park-N-Dine Restaurant in Hancock, where he was assistant manager.

He was a member of St. Thomas' Episcopal Church in Hancock.

He was a member of Iowa Tribe of Kansas, Nebraska.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his second wife, Angela Dawn Smith McCarty of Hancock; two daughters, Deseree Trail of Berkeley Springs and Tiffany B. McCarty of Hancock; maternal grandmother, Rose M. George of Hagerstown; paternal grandmother, Dessie L. McCarty of Hancock; four sisters, Vickie Truax of Needmore, Pa., Donna L. Unger of Berkeley Springs, Diane McCarty of Little Orleans, Md., and Billie Jo Trail of Hancock; five brothers, Jack L. McCarty of Hagerstown, Craig E. McCarty of Monroe, Va., Scott W. Diehl of Berkeley Springs, Tracy L. Golden of Harrisonville, Pa., and Luckie McCarty of Little Orleans; and two grandsons.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas' Episcopal Church, 2 E. High St., Hancock. The Rev. F. Allan Weatherholt Jr. and Lay Associate Steven L. McCarty will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Nebo Cemetery, Great Cacapon, W.Va.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock. The funeral home will be open Monday from noon to 9 p.m.

Wayne E. Rizer

Wayne E. Rizer, 65, of 11320 Lakeside Drive, Hagerstown, who died Nov. 12, 1998, was preceded in death by a brother, Donald E. Rizer.

 

Margaret D. Routzahn

Margaret Deliah Routzahn, 82, of 1106 Luther Drive, Hagerstown, died Friday, Nov. 13, 1998, at Ravenwood Lutheran Village, Hagerstown.

Born Feb. 5, 1916, in Boyce, Va., she was the daughter of the late James Kemper and Rebecca Ann Ritenour Yowell.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Snively Routzahn, in 1990.

She was a homemaker.

She is survived by a sister, Rebecca Packett of Hagerstown; nieces and nephews.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. Carroll L. Boyer will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends Tuesday one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.

 

Michael T. Lorden

ASHBURN, Va. - Michael Thomas Lorden, 32, of 43997 Aberdeen Terrace, died Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998, at his home.

Born April 20, 1966, in Baltimore, he was the son of Harry F. and Catherine T. Keaveney Lorden of Hagerstown.

He was a graduate of St. Mary's Catholic School and St. Maria Goretti High School, both of Hagerstown. He was a graduate of Miami University of Ohio.

He was employed as a computer associate.

He attended St. Theresa Catholic Church of Ashburn, Va.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Sarah Walsh Lorden; a son, John Michael Lorden, at home; three sisters, Mary G. Gilroy of Beltsville, Md., JoAnn Elder of Ocean City, Md., and Theresa A. Caputi of Vienna, Va.; two brothers, Gregory H. Lorden of Vienna and Patrick K. Lorden of Baltimore; two nieces and three nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church, 1525 Oak Hill Ave., Hagerstown. The Rev. Edward Manalis will be celebrant. Burial will be Thursday at noon in North Falmouth Burial Grounds, North Falmouth, Mass.

The family will receive friends Monday from 3 to 7 p.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. N., Hagerstown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Ann Catholic Church, c/o The Michael Lorden Fund, 1525 Oak Hill Ave., Hagerstown, Md. 21742.

Grace P. Litwin

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Grace Pearson Litwin, 74, of Charles Town, died Friday, Nov. 13, 1998, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson, W.Va.

Born May 21, 1924, in Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Pearson.

She was a graduate of Eastern High School, Washington, D.C.

She was the former owner and operator of The Dressing Room in Leesburg, Va., for many years.

She was a Protestant.

She is survived by a close friend with whom she lived, Elizabeth Barlow Davids.

Services will be held at a later date.

Burial will be private.

There will be no visitation.

Arrangements are by Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town.
