Woman's condition serious after wreck

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A Chambersburg woman was flown to York (Pa.) Hospital Tuesday night after being seriously injured when her car ran into a tractor-trailer on U.S. 11 in Guilford Township, Pa.

Carol Campbell, no age available, was listed in serious condition Wednesday in the trauma-surgical intensive care unit, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

The accident happened at 6:45 p.m. just north of the Kriner Road intersection, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Campbell was driving north when her Geo Metro struck the left side of the trailer just in front of the rear wheels, police said.


The accident happened near a complex of warehouses, police said. The truck driver, James M. Harper of Cutler, Ohio, was unhurt, police said.

The report said the accident was under investigation.

Man charged with speeding, fleeing

FREDERICK, Md. - A Frederick man was charged after an incident in which officers unsuccessfully tried to make a driver stop on Tuesday, according to the Frederick Police Department.

Kevin M. Coleman, 18, 105 B. West 14th St., was charged with speeding, alcohol restriction, fleeing in a vehicle and on foot, police said.

Police said the driver was speeding on Wilson Place when officers attempted to pull him over.

The driver jumped out of his car and ran away at the intersection of Taney Avenue and Wilson Place, police alleged.

Coleman was free Wednesday on $5,000 bond.

Md. woman faces drug, DWI charges

FREDERICK, Md. - A woman was arrested after police found drug paraphernalia in a car Wednesday morning.

Susan Ann Cariloa, 39, of Ashfield Court, Frederick, was charged with speeding, driving while intoxicated, possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia.

Frederick Police said they pulled over a car that was speeding in the 900 block of East Patrick Street.

While searching the car, police found a plastic tube used to snort cocaine. The item contained cocaine residue, police said.

Cariloa posted $10,000 bail.

Man charged in daughter's assault

FREDERICK, Md. - A 17-year-old girl sustained minor injuries when she was pushed to the ground and choked by her father on Tuesday evening, according to the Frederick Police Department.

The 42-year-old man, whose name is not being released to protect his daughter's identity, was charged with second-degree assault and child abuse, police said.

The teenager was treated at Frederick Memorial Hospital and released.

The man was being held on $50,000 bond, police said.

$300 in property stolen from home

A thief broke into the home of a man who passed away several weeks ago and stole about $300 worth of property Tuesday, according to Washington County Sheriff's deputies.

The home is in the 11300 block of Lakeside Drive.

CDs, player stolen

A CD player and some CDs, valued at $535, were taken Tuesday from a vehicle parked near a home at 15120 Spring Dell Road in Williamsport, according to Maryland State Police.

The vehicle also was damaged, police said.

Window damaged by bullet

No one was injured when a bullet shot out a window of a home on Tuesday evening, according to Washington County Sheriff's deputies.

Damage to the window was estimated at $150, deputies said.

The bullet was found on the floor of the home in the 13200 block of Herman Myers Road, deputies said.

Man sentenced on drug charge

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - A Kearneysville, W.Va., man was sentenced recently in U.S. District Court by Judge W. Craig Broadwater on a drug distribution charge, according to a press release from the Office of the U.S. Attorney.

Gregory K. Clinton, 37, was sentenced on Nov. 5 to seven years and eight months imprisonment followed by three years of supervised release, according to the release. He pleaded guilty on May 21 to one count of distribution of crack cocaine on Feb. 28, 1997, at Baker Heights II in Kearneysville, according to the release.
