Pa. man dies in crash

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - A Huntingdon County, Pa., man was killed Friday morning when his car went out of control and rolled over after it hit several deer, Pennsylvania State Police said.

The victim, who was alone in his car at the time of the 3 a.m. accident, was heading home on U.S. 522 about three miles north of U.S. 30 in Todd Township, police said.

He was identified as Kelly J. Sprenkle, 21, of Three Springs, Pa. Sprenkle was driving a 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier that sustained severe damage, policed said.

According to police, Sprenkle was heading north when several deer jumped in front of his car. He hit several of the animals before losing control, police said. The car went off the left side of the road and flipped over several times. Sprenkle, who was not wearing a safety belt, was thrown from the vehicle.

He was pronounced dead at Fulton County Medical Center of massive head trauma by Fulton County Coroner Darryl Heckman.
