Morris files as write-in candidate

October 30, 1998

Eugene "Buddie" Morris, who was defeated in the July primary for a chance to run for Washington County Commissioner, has filed as a write-in candidate.

"I did this because people have called me up and asked me to do it," Morris said. "They said they trust me."

Morris, 75, is a lifelong resident of Washington County. He finished 12th out of 14 candidates on the Democratic ticket with the top five going forward to Tuesday's general election.

His issues include correcting the water and sewer problems in Washington County, fighting for taxation justice, attracting high-tech firms to the county and recognizing young people's accomplishments.

His campaign slogan was "Better Planning Today ... A Better County Tomorrow."

"I will always be available to people in the community," Morris said. His home phone number is 301-733-0539.
