Candlelight vigil set for Wednesday

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - A domestic violence candlelight vigil will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday in the midway between the Ram's Den and Sara Cree Hall on the Shepherd College campus in Shepherdstown.

The free event is being sponsored by the Social Work Association of Shepherd College.

Wise to meet with prospective cadets

HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - High school students interested in attending a military service academy can meet with U.S. Rep. Bob Wise, D-W.Va., Sunday for information on applying.

Wise will be at Hedgesville High School from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. to answer questions from prospective cadets about the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, and the U.S. Naval, Air Force, Coast Guard and Merchant Marine academies.


Representatives from each of the academies will be with Wise to discuss admissions, academic and athletic programs and post-graduate commitment to officer training.

Jefferson Co. board changes meeting

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - The Jefferson County Board of Education will hold its first regular meeting for November on Monday, Nov. 2, instead of Tuesday, Nov. 3, due to Election Day.

The meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. at the board office, 110 Mordington Ave., Charles Town.
