Woman injured when car hits pole

CLEAR SPRING - A woman was injured Sunday morning when her car collided with a utility pole off Md. 56, Maryland State Police said.

Debra Kay Gladhill, 35, was treated at Washington County Hospital and released, according to a spokeswoman.

Gladhill's Dodge Shadow was headed east on Md. 56 at about 7:10 a.m. when she lost control of it while trying to roll down the passenger's-side window, police said. She was unable to regain control and the car skidded into the pole, police said.

Man charged in burglary, assault

BOONSBORO - A Boonsboro man was charged with burglary and assault Sunday after his ex-girlfriend's house was broken into and she was assaulted, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Department.

Dwayne Mitchell Hines, 30, of 10 S. Main St., was charged with third-degree burglary, second-degree assault and malicious destruction of property, deputies said.

Hines posted $25,000 bond on Sunday.

Deputies and Maryland State Police officers were sent to 14 Potomac St. in Boonsboro at about 4:30 a.m., authorities said.

A man had forced his way into the home, damaging the back door, deputies said. The man assaulted Beth Ann Demers, deputies said.

Woman, child still hospitalized

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - A Chambersburg, Pa., woman and child injured in a Friday evening accident remained hospitalized Sunday night, according to hospital authorities.

Angela Joy Harrison, 21, was in serious condition in the progressive care unit at Washington County Hospital, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

Tayama J. Harrison, 3, was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. A hospital spokeswoman said the child was in fair condition Sunday.

Pennsylvania State Police said both were ejected from a 1988 Isuzu Trooper that Angela Harrison was driving north on Interstate 81 near Exit 3 at 6:55 p.m. Friday. For unknown reasons, police said the vehicle went into the median and rolled over several times before coming to rest in the southbound lanes.

Man faces assault, DUI charges

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police charged a Shippensburg, Pa., man with driving under the influence and other offenses after a one-vehicle accident Friday morning in Greene Township, Pa.

Harold Lee Miller, 29, was also charged with resisting arrest, simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct, according to police.

Police said Miller was traveling east on Walker Road near Nolts Drive at 2:25 a.m. when he lost control of a 1990 Ford Probe and went down an embankment.

The police report said Miller became combative with police when he was taken to Chambersburg Hospital for treatment of injuries.

Miller was arraigned before District Justice David Hawbaker and taken to Franklin County Prison on $10,000 bond.

Car, truck collide

FREDERICK, Md. - Two people received minor injuries after their cars collided at U.S. 40 and Pleasant Walk Road in Frederick on Sunday afternoon.

According to the Frederick County Sheriff's Office, Sheryl Countermarsh, 16, of Thurmont, Md., who was driving a 1984 Ford Ranger pickup truck, pulled out in front of a 1996 Oldsmobile driven by Jack McCarter, 41, of Hagerstown.

Neither driver was taken to the hospital, deputies said.
