Friday's roundup - Lions roll Cougars for MVAL win

THURMONT, Md. - Walkersville rolled up 348 yards total offense on its way to a 31-20 victory over Catoctin in a Monocacy Valley Athletic League game Friday night.

Chad Dewees rushed 15 times for 155 yards for Catoctin (4-4, 3-4). Chad Wiley completed 11 of 22 pass attempts for 112 yards, a touchdown and an interception.

Catoctin finished with 320 yards total offense.

No. 6 Walkersville improves to 6-2, 6-1 in the league.

Gettysburg 43, Waynesboro 29

GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Quarterback Lawrence Williams threw for 201 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 54 yards and two more touchdowns for Gettysburg.

Chad Townsend ran 16 times for 92 yards and another score for Gettysburg (5-4).

Lance Williams caught two TD passes and finished with 94 receiving yards for Waynesboro (2-6). Leroy Satchell rushed 19 times for 60 yards and a TD.

Greencastle-Antrim 54, James Buchanan 0

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Mike Jemison rushed for 128 yards on 16 carries and four touchdowns as No. 4 Greencastle rolled to a Mid-Penn Colonial win.

Walter Medina carried 10 times for 120 yards and a touchdown for Greencastle (7-1, 4-0).

Quarterback Billy Windle threw for 118 yards, including a 55-yard touchdown to Eric Piper.

CLEAR SPRING - Ashley Olszeski had eight kills and four blocks in No. 4 North Hagerstown's 15-6, 15-10, 15-12 victory over Clear Spring.

Nicole Morgan had 14 assists and four kills for North (9-2). Nicole Boyer added eight service points.

Williamsport 3, FSK 0

UNION BRIDGE, Md. - Lettie Wilkes had 11 kills, 12 assists and three blocks to lead No. 2 Williamsport to a 15-11, 15-9, 15-10 MVAL victory.

Amy Spoonire had 16 assists for the Wildcats (10-1, 5-1). Barb Spoonire had 12 service points and six kills.

Mt. Savage 3, Hancock 0

HANCOCK - Amanda Bingaman had 13 kills and nine service points for No. 10 Hancock in a 15-11, 15-3, 19-17 loss to Mount Savage (12-3).

Rebecca Thomas scored all of her 11 service points in the final game as Hancock (8-4) rallied to even the score at 14-14.

Christi Barnard had 12 assists, Summer Beal had 11 assists and Erica Winn added seven kills.

Goretti 3, Berkeley Springs 0

Jennifer Piccolomini had five kills and five aces as the Gaels blew to a 15-10, 15-11, 15-6 victory.

Mandy Hoffman had seven kills and Jaelithe Sing added four aces for Goretti (10-8).

Jefferson, Martinsburg host sectional soccer finals

The Jefferson girls and Martinsburg boys soccer teams take another step in the postseason when they play sectional final games at home today.

Jefferson faces North Marion at noon, while Martinsburg welcomes Morgantown at 1 p.m.
