Mildred I. Churchey Fry

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. - A viewing and graveside service for Mildred I. Churchey Fry, 88, of Mechanicsburg, who died Thursday, October 22, 1998, will be Monday at 1:45 p.m. at Mountain View Cemetery, Sharpsburg. The Rev. Carroll Churchey will officiate.

Family and friends will meet at Sharpsburg Bible Church Fellowship Hall on Monday, following the service at the cemetery.

Pauline R. Mason

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Pauline Ruth Unger Youngblood Mason, 81, of Berkeley Springs, died Friday, Oct. 23, 1998, at Morgan County War Memorial Hospital.

Born April 27, 1917, in Morgan County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Ivan Ira and Icy Snow Henry Unger.


She was preceded in death by her first husband, Floyd D. Youngblood, in 1966; and by her second husband, Lee E. Mason, in 1982.

She was a homemaker.

She was a Protestant.

She was a member of Alderton-Dawson American Legion Unit 60 Auxiliary; Risinger-Stotler VFW Post 4019 Auxiliary; Red Men's Club Auxiliary; and Women of the Moose.

She is survived by four daughters, Martha "Sis" Youngblood of Berkeley Springs, Irene Doyle of Holbrook, N.Y., Edith Cave and Eileene Miller, both of Berkeley Springs; a son, Vernon D. Youngblood of Berkeley Springs; a stepdaughter, Peggy Haney of Berkeley Springs; a stepson, Donald L. Mason Sr. of Berkeley Springs; two sisters, Mary Thompson of Shepherdstown, W.Va. and Margie Barnhart of Berkeley Springs; a brother, Dayton Unger of North Dakota; 14 grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; a step-great-great-grandchild; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by five sisters, Pearl Barney, Virginia Unger, Opal Bivens, Dorothy Trail and Vergie Bishop; five brothers, Estee Unger, Berkeley Unger, Clarence Unger, Ray Unger and Raymond Unger; and two grandchildren.

Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs, W.Va. The Rev. Hennis H. Fox will officiate. Burial will be in Greenway Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. The funeral home will be open Monday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., for the convenience of friends.

Sybil A. Barbour

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Sybil Amelia Barbour, 96, of Martinsburg, died Friday, Oct. 23, 1998, at City Hospital.

Born March 6, 1902, in Toms Brook, Va., she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Virginia Belle Funk Crabill.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Nixon Barbour.

She was a caterer for a number of years.

She was a life member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

She was a member of Pikeside Club and the Philathea Class.

She is survived by five grandchildren, Natalie Ashton and Nancy Albright, both of Martinsburg, Susan Portante of Long Beach, Calif., Jackie Ashby of New Harmony, Utah and Ted Russell of Twin Falls, Idaho; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Natalie Barbour Russell; a son, Douglas C. Barbour; five sisters, Margaret Cone, Evelyn Crabb, Regina Crabill, Josephine Grove and Lucy Crabill; and four brothers, George Crabill, Jacob Crabill, Creston Crabill and Samuel Crabill.

Services will be Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. Dr. G. Edward Grove will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Helen K. Hoffer

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Helen Katherine Hoffer, 98, formerly of 101 Tennessee Ave., died Saturday, Oct. 24, 1998, at Homewood-Plum Creek, Hanover, Pa.

Born Feb. 25, 1900, in Romney, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Henry W. and Ruth A. Grady Hoffer.

She graduated from Garfield Memorial Hospital in Washington, D.C.

She retired from Madeira School for Girls in Fairfax County, Va. as head nurse. She was previously employed with Garfield Memorial Hospital.

She was a member of Rosemont Grace Brethren Church in Martinsburg.

She is survived by a sister, Enid Hoffer Leiter of Hanover; a niece and two nephews.

Services and burial will be at the convenience of the family at Fort Lincoln Cemetery Mausoleum, Washington, D.C.

There will be no viewing.

Arrangements are by Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.

Katherine F. O'Brien

Katherine F. O'Brien, 84, of Hagerstown, died Friday, Oct. 23, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.

Born June 18, 1914, in Mercersburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late C. Edgar and Anna L. Eckert Fallon.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Lynn O'Brien, in 1996.

She was a secretary at Fairchild Industries for 40 years; and a senior citizens reading volunteer.

She was a member of Presbyterian Church of Hagerstown.
