W.Va. roadways get funds for improvements

CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Improvements to two Berkeley County, W.Va., roads are part of 43 miles of roadway across the state that have been added to contracts in the West Virginia Division of Highways' Nov. 10 bid opening, according to Gov. Cecil H. Underwood.

A total of 1.2 miles of Nadenbousch Lane and 1.01 miles of Shrewbridge Road are slated for improvements.

Contracts were awarded on the following road projects, which include drainage improvements, widening and paving:

* Berkeley County: $124,888 to APAC-Virginia Inc. of Stephenson, Va., for 2.68 miles of Opequon Lane

* Jefferson County: $267,037 to Jefferson Asphalt Products Co. Inc. of Charles Town, W.Va., for 5.87 miles of Bakerton Road; $56,766 to Jefferson Asphalt Products Co. Inc. of Charles Town for 1.43 miles of Uvilla Road; and $109,489 to Jefferson Asphalt Products Co. Inc. of Charles Town for 2.27 miles of Cave Road

* Morgan County: $88,600 to Craig Paving Inc. of Hagerstown for .48 mile of New Hope Road and Waugh Road
