Lenhart leads Catoctin over St. John's

FREDERICK, Md. - Kristi Lenhart collected 10 service points, four aces and three assists to help Catoctin (2-8) defeat St. John's at Prospect Hall 16-14, 15-4, 5-15 and 15-11. Sarah Yokum tacked on 14 service points and three aces, Leanne Manning added 12 service points and four aces and Karen Lewis had six assists for Catoctin.

Mercersburg Academy 3, Musselman 1

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Lauren Bolte had 16 service points, nine kills, three aces and two blocks to help Mercersburg Academy (8-2) defeat Musselman 15-6, 12-15, 15-6 and 15-6. Katie Porter added 18 service points, five aces and three kills, while Angie Cornelius had eight kills and three aces for the winners.

Hancock 3, Flintstone 0

FLINTSTONE, Md. - Amanda Bingaman finished with 14 service points, 12 kills, five aces and 100 percent serving to help Hancock (7-3) sweep Flintstone 15-4, 16-14 and 15-4. Summer Beal contributed 15 assists and 100 percent serving, while Heidi Moats tallied 10 service points for Hancock. Christy Bernard added 10 assists, while Rebecca Thomas and Erica Winn had five kills each for the winners.



Mercersburg Academy 3, St. James 2

Will Hamilton, Will Posner and Chris Miller scored one goal each to lead Mercersburg Academy over St. James (6-6-1). Jason Newby and Steve Bumby had one goal each for St. James. St. James goalie Peter Mundey made nine saves. Mercersburg Academy outshot St. James, 15-13.

South Hagerstown 3, Boonsboro 1

Freshman goalkeeper Scott Barish made 10 saves to enable South (2-7-2) to edge Boonsboro (3-6-1). Chris Mills scored two goals and Jamie Moore added one goal for South. Nick Ling had the only goal for Boonsboro. Boonsboro goalkeeper Sam Lind made 13 saves. South Hagerstown outshot Boonsboro, 20-11.

St. Maria Goretti 10, Musselman 1

Trey Cobb scored three goals, while Steve Kamas and Adrian Snell added two goals each to help No. 7 St. Maria Goretti (9-3-3) beat Musselman. Charlie Idol, Ben Hood and Mike Aziz added one goal each for Goretti. Goretti goalkeeper Bill Cramer made 20 saves. Eric Sialkowski had the only goal for Musselman. Goretti also won the JV game, 7-0.

Smithsburg 5, Francis Scott Key 1

UNION BRIDGE, Md. - Ryan Daughtridge collected three goals and one assist to help No. 8 Smithsburg (8-3-2) beat Francis Scott Key. Brian Eichelberger and Kelly Landis scored one goal each for Smithsburg. Dustin Crilly and Gerad House had one assist each for the winners. Smithsburg outshot Francis Scott Key, 30-12.


Martinsburg 4, Hedgesville 0

No. 9 Martinsburg advanced in the sectional playoffs with its win over Hedgesville. Sara Miller, Sara Lowell, Tamera Minnich and Kate Bonifant scored for the winners.

Kristin Lough had 13 saves for the shutout.

Smithsburg 3, South Hagerstown 2

SMITHSBURG - Smithsburg (9-4) came back from a 2-0 halftime deficit to edge South. Andrea Henson finished with one goal and one assist, while Lisa Holsinger and Morgan Church scored one goal each for Smithsburg. Kyley Thompson added two assists for the winners.

Mallory Tsetsilas and Emily Middlekauff had one goal each for South (4-8). South goalkeeper Ashley Mullican made 29 saves.

Thomas Johnson 5, North Hagerstown 1

FREDERICK, Md. - No. 1 Thomas Johnson (10-1) beat North (8-3-1). Kaycie Parfitt scored the only goal for North.


COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Jimmy Cunningham of Walkersville was the low medalist of the day with a score of 69 in the Maryland State Golf Championships at the University of Maryland. Walkersville is first in Class 1A-2A with a team score of 324.


Wash. Co. Flag Football League

Miller Lite 50, Blondie's 6: Doug Stotelmyer and Danny Cunningham combined to throw seven touchdown passes for Miller Lite to lead the way over Blondie's. Kevin Dickens caught four touchdown passes. Chris Ricker, Mark Burger and Mitchell Branch caught one touchdown pass each. Jason Draper, Billy Campbell, Mitchell Branch and Kevin Dickens had one interception apiece.

Danny Cunningham had a touchdown run for Blondie's.

Wash. Co. Frostbite League

Knights of Turntable swept a doubleheader from Westworld Lazer 15-3 and 27-9. Denny Wallech, Mark Burger, Pork Wallech, Jody Rohrer, Mike Kelbaugh, Brian Lapole, Rich Hayes and Doug Levine all batted over .700 in the doubleheader for Knights of Turntable.

Lenox swept a doubleheader from Team Nike 25-9 and 29-7. During the first game, Bull Myers slugged two home runs among his four hits for Lenox. Derek Brown and Rusty Chaney added four hits each. Jeff Miller hit a home run for Lenox.

In the second game, Brown slugged a home run among his four hits. Ira Heller, Doug Moyers and Mike Ward added four hits each for Lenox. Jason Jenkins and Miller added each homered for Lenox.
