Frances E. Hobstetter

Frances E. Hobstetter, 81, of 18807 Briarwood Drive, Hagerstown, died Monday, Oct. 19, 1998, at Colton Villa Nursing Center.

Born Nov. 18, 1916, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late George Allen and Mary Elizabeth Poffenberger Eiler.

Her husband, Frank Williams Hobstetter, died in 1964.

She was a 1935 graduate of Hagerstown High School.

She was employed as a secretary with a local real estate office.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.

She was a former executive officer of Washington County Home Builders Association.

She is survived by one son, Gregory C. Hobstetter of Hagerstown; one sister, Hazel M. Bitner of Maugansville; and nieces.

Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Edward H. Heim will officiate. Burial will be in Boonsboro Cemetery in Boonsboro.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association of Western Maryland, 5 Public Square, Hagerstown, MD 21740.

Beulah S. Kretzer

Beulah Sara Kretzer, 93, of 219 Bryan Place, Hagerstown, died Monday, Oct. 19, 1998, at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown.

Born Feb. 2, 1905, in Markes, Pa., she was the daughter of the late David A. and Alena Grace Eckstine Crider.

Her husband, Richard J. Kretzer, died in 1980.

She was formerly employed by Interwoven in Greencastle, Pa.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and Temple Builders Sunday School Class, and a life member of United Methodist Women.

She is survived by three daughters, Geneieve M. Kretzer and Geraldine G. Ridgley, both of Hagerstown, and Virginia S. Peters of York, Pa.; one son, Seibert G. Kretzer of Hagerstown; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Harold Prather Kretzer; and two sisters, Ruth Hollingshead and Leola E. Dietrich.

Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown. The Rev. Robert S. Barton and the Rev. Alvin R. Shaffer will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery in Hagerstown.

A viewing will be held at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Charles D. Myers

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Charles D. "Dutch" Myers, 93, of 700 McKinley St., died Monday, Oct. 19, 1998, at Shook Home.

He was born May 1, 1905, in Chambersburg.

He owned the former Myers Brothers Distributors on South Street from 1933 to 1979.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of Second Lutheran Church.

He was a member of Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion, Loyal Order of Moose 842, Hume McNeal Byers Post 224 AMVETS, Chambersburg Club, a social member of Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW; and a life member of Chambersburg Country Club.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Vanderau Myers; two stepdaughters, Judy Helfrick of Upper Strasburg, Pa., and Saundra Fisher of Fayetteville, Pa.; one sister, Margaret "Pete" Grove of Altoona, Pa.; six stepgrandchildren; 11 stepgreat-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, 297 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg. The Rev. Neal O. Hively will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.

Anna M. Loy

BOONSBORO - Anna Mae Loy, 86, of Reeder's Nursing Home, and formerly of Point of Rocks, Md., died Monday, Oct. 19, 1998, at the nursing home.

Born May 3, 1912, in Fairplay, she was the daughter of the late Guy R. and Sadie Belle Stover Hessong.

Her husband, Ray Bentley Loy, preceded her in death.

She was employed by Sheraton Motor Inn, and owned Riverbend Restaurant.

She was a member of Virginia Avenue Baptist Church.

She is survived by one sister, Catherine V. Semler of Sharpsburg; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Helen Baker; and four brothers, Robert, Leonard, Richard and Keller Hessong.

Services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Richard A. Gross will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Taylorstown, Va.

There will be no viewing.
