Pet activities slated

October 18, 1998

Fall is a busy season for pets and pet owners in the area, thanks to the Washington County SPCA and Fuzzy Buddies.

* Pet or Treat, sponsored by Fuzzy Buddies, will be conducted Tuesday at Coffman Nursing Home beginning at 2 p.m.

Additional Pet or Treat events will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at Homewood Retirement Center; 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, at Colton Villa Nursing Home; 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, at Clearview Nursing Home; and at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, at Homewood Adult Day Care.

At these events, Fuzzy Buddies bring their costumed pets to go from room to room visiting residents.

* On Saturday, the Washington County SPCA will host a Midnight Madness pet adoption from 10 a.m. to midnight.

Those who adopt a pet that day will get a free pet starter kit and will be eligible for prizes donated by area businesses, according to Becky Cavanaugh.

Visitors on that day will be treated to an evening of games, pet costumes and socializing with other animal enthusiasts.

Halloween note: the SPCA will not adopt out black cats from Friday through Saturday, Oct. 31.

* Howlaween, a pet fun day organized by Bassett Hound Rescue, will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, at the Washington County Agricultural Center.

* Another pet fun day is scheduled at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, for residents of the Homewood Retirement Center, Chapman said.
