Cougars win close one over South

THURMONT, Md. - Catoctin clawed back from a 26-6 halftime deficit behind three Chad Wiley TD passes to claim a 42-38 victory Friday night in the Monocacy Valley Athletic League.

Catoctin scored 23 points in the last seven minutes, thirty seconds of the game.

Chad Dewees scored rushing TDs of 24, five and one yards for Catoctin (4-3, 3-3 MVAL). Dewees also caught a 3-yard TD pass from Wiley.

Chad Irvine caught Wiley's other two TD passes for 27 and 10 yards.

Jason Priecko had rushing touchdowns of 50, five and three yards in the first quarter for South (1-6, 1-5). Priecko rushed 42 times for 244 yards.

Carlisle 41, Waynesboro 8

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Justin Barrick had three rushing touchdowns to lead Carlisle (6-1). Noah Cline had 12 carries for 77 yards in the victory.

Leroy Satchell rushed 26 times for 114 yards and scored the lone TD for Waynesboro (2-5).

Goretti 6, Grace 1

Trey Cobb scored two goals and Mike Aziz, Charlie Idol, Adrian Snell and Steve Kamas each scored once as No. 7 Goretti defeated Grace Academy.

Aziz also had two assists for Goretti (8-3-3). Snell, James Cosentino and Nick Kline added one assist each.

Williamsport 7, Brunswick 0

BRUNSWICK, Md. - Matt Porac and Matt Bowman each had two goals and one assist to lead No. 9 Williamsport.

Derek Friel, Ryan Mease and Carlos Gomez scored goals for Williamsport (8-3). Mease and Todd Knepper added assists.

Heritage 6, Faith 1

Briggs Hough scored four goals in the second half, directing Heritage Academy over Faith Academy.

Ryan Marquiss had a goal and an assist for Heritage (6-6, 4-6). Ben Jordan added an assist.

Williamsport 5, Clear Spring 0

CLEAR SPRING - Angie McDonald, Brooke Weimer, Stephanie Ritchie, Jenny Wade and Kaci Resau all scored goals for No. 3 Williamsport (10-0-1).

Resau, Skyler Sanders and Shannon Smiles added assists in the victory.

Grace 3, Goretti 2

Sarah Conner had 20 kills and Joanna Conner added 19 assists as Grace Academy sneaked by Goretti 13-15, 15-13, 15-7, 11-15, 15-13.

Heather Kendall added 13 assists for Grace (11-1).

Mandy Hoffman had 19 kills and Jennifer Piccolomini added 18 kills for Goretti (8-8). Julie Sanicola and Hanna Chambers each had 15 assists.

O'Malley to speak in Frederick

FREDERICK, Md. - The Leadership Frederick County Alumni Association will hold a breakfast featuring Susan O'Malley, president of Washington Sports and Entertainment at 7:30 p.m Wednesday. Sponsored by Farmers and Merchants National Bank, the event will take place at Holiday Inn on West Patrick Street in Frederick. It is open to the public.

Washington Sports and Entertainment runs the business operations of Washington's NHL Capitals, NBA Wizards and WNBA Mystics franchises. O'Malley has spoken to numerous civic groups, schools and corporate retreats across the country.
