City Park lake refilling after repairs

October 16, 1998

The lower lake in City Park has been refilling as crews wrap up repair work on the lake's walls, Assistant City Engineer Rodney Tissue said.

The lake is expected to be totally refilled by the middle of the week, Tissue said. Underground springs feed the lake.

The lake was drained two feet in June so GRC General Contractors of Zullinger, Pa., could repair an 800-foot stretch of the stone wall along Virginia Avenue.

The contract, which includes landscaping, is for $262,123, but the total project cost came in around $270,000, Tissue said.

The arch that was along Park Circle, which needed touching up, will return in about two weeks, Tissue said.

The entire project won't be done until mid-November since landscaping remains to be done, the sidewalk needs to be finished and the walls need to be repointed, he said.
