Catherine L. Schaefer

Catherine L. Schaefer, 83, formerly of Baltimore, died Saturday, Oct. 3, 1998.

She was born May 10, 1915, in Baltimore.

Her husband, John J. Schaefer, preceded her in death.

She is survived by six children, Joanne L. Schaefer and John J. Schaefer Jr., both of Westminster, Md., Kathleen M. Schaefer of Baltimore, Michael J. Schaefer of Keedysville, George J. Schaefer of Perry Hall, Md., and Marian R. Mongrain of Hagerstown; two brothers; seven grandsons; four granddaughters; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Evans Funeral Chapel, 8800 Harford Road, Parkville, Md. Burial will be in Moreland Memorial Park, Taylor Avenue, Parkville.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Emma P. Struble

Emma Price Struble, 102, of Hagerstown, and formerly of Bloomfield, N.J., died Thursday, Oct. 1, 1998, at Williamsport Nursing Home.

She was born in Paterson, N.J., and raised in Warwick, N.Y.

Her husband, William M. Struble, preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Brookdale Reformed Church, and the Women's Club and Ladies Circle of the church.

She also was a member of Brookdale Women's Club.

She is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth M. Zanyor and Gwendolyn Struble, both of Hagerstown; two grandchildren, Noelle Murray and William Zanyor; five great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at Frank Halpin's Brookdale Funeral Home, 1284 Broad St., Bloomfield. Burial will be in Warwick Town Cemetery in Warwick.

Visitation will be at the funeral home Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Brookdale Reformed Church, 10 Bellevue Ave., Bloomfield, N.J. 07003.

Ethel M. Jenkins

SUMMIT POINT, W.Va. - Ethel Mae Nichols Jenkins, 73, of Summit Point, died Friday, Oct. 2, 1998, at Winchester (Va.) Medical Center.

Born June 20, 1925, in Madison County, Va., she was the daughter of the late James E. and Iler Nicholson Nichols.

Her husband, James A. Jenkins, preceded her in death.

She was of the Pentecostal faith.

She is survived by four daughters, Doris Dodson of Shepherdstown, W.Va., Jean Gordon of Winchester, Audrey Graves of Boyce, Va., and Ethel Combs of Summit Point; three sons, James A. Jenkins of Stephens City, Va., Sonny Ien Jenkins of Wardensville, W.Va., and Marvin L. Jenkins of Summit Point; two sisters, Elsie C. Hawkins and Louna B. Sorrells, both of Winchester; five brothers, Carl Nichols, Frank W. Nichols, and Lenwood T. Nichols, all of Stephens City; Lewis T. Nichols of Bunker Hill, W.Va., and Earl D. Nichols of Summit Point; 18 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Ellen Jenkins; one sister, Edith I. Bell; and one brother, James "Buddy" Nichols.

Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home in Charles Town, W.Va. The Rev. Johnny Faircloth will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens in Martinsburg, W.Va.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Muriel G. Eckmann

Muriel G. Eckmann, 76, of 19510 Foxcroft Drive, Hagerstown, died Saturday, Oct. 3, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.

Born March 21, 1922, in Racine, Wis., she was the daughter of the late Levern B. and Martha Anderson Griffith.

She received her bachelor of science degree in 1943 from the University of Wisconsin.

She was a member of Presbyterian Church of Hagerstown.

She also was a member of P.E.O. Chapter I, and Fountain Head Country Club, where she was active in the Women's Nine-Hole Golf Group.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth C. Eckmann; one daughter, Joanne E. Kushall of Wilmington, Del.; two sons, John G. Eckmann of Tualatin, Ore., and James R. Eckmann of Eden Prairie, Minn.; one sister, Elise G. Metzler of Charlotte, N.C.; and five grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Presbyterian Church of Hagerstown, 20 S. Prospect St., Hagerstown. The Rev. John W. Ailstock will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Presbyterian Church of Hagerstown, 20 S. Prospect St., Hagerstown, Md. 21740; or to the American Cancer Society, Washington County Unit, 1037 Haven Road, Hagerstown, Md. 21742.

Arrangements are by Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown.
