Thursday's roundup: Drummond, Hubs stick it to Blazers

CLEAR SPRING - Lane Drummond scored two goals Thursday, leading North Hagerstown to a 4-1 win over Clear Spring.

John Muto and Josh Gouker scored the other goals for North (6-2).

Toby Hoffman scored on an assist from Justin Saloom for Clear Spring (3-5).

Jeremiah Johnson had 17 saves for the Blazers. Jon Hemm had 10 saves for North.

Goretti 2, Hedgesville 2

Mike Aziz scored a goal and added an assist as St. Maria Goretti played Hedgesville to a draw.

Adrian Snell scored a goal for Goretti (5-2-3). Trey Cobb added an assist.

Patrick Ware scored a goal for Hedgesville.

Goretti won the JV contest, 1-0.

Chambersburg 2, Carlisle 0

CARLISLE, Pa. - Ryan Hess and Kevin Berberich scored goals to lift Chambersburg.

Nate Richards assisted on both goal for Chambersburg (11-1, 10-1).

Pat Munson recorded the shutout with five saves. His 7 1/2 shutouts set a Chambersburg season record.

Greencastle 4, Shalom 3

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Nevin Laughlin scored twice, including the game-winner in the second overtime, to lead the Blue Devils (7-4).

Tony Simonetti and Danny Izer also scored, while Rich Polifka had two assists.

North 5, Catoctin 1

THURMONT, Md. - Jackie Salvagno scored two goals and Lindsay Smith added a goal and two assists, leading the Hubs to a victory over Catoctin in a MVAL match.

Michelle Fitzgerald and Megan Adair each added goals for North (6-2-1, 3-2-1).

Boonsboro 5, Brunswick 0

BRUNSWICK, Md. - Maggie Tierney had two goals and two assists, leading Boonsboro to an MVAL win over Brunswick (0-8, 0-4).

Lisa Byers and Holly Pearson each added goals and an assist for Boonsboro (3-4-1, 2-3). Bethany Windle added a goal.

Boonsboro also won the JV game, 1-0.

Martinsburg 6, Clear Spring 2

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Sara Miller and Sam Polinik scored two goals each to lead Martinsburg to a victory over Clear Spring.

Katie Messner scored once and assisted on three goals as Martinsburg (5-4-1) took a 5-1 lead at the half. Kate Bonifant had a goal and an assist and Miller also collected an assist. The Bulldogs owned a 33-6 edge in shots on goal.

Christina James and Ashley Andrews each scored goals for Clear Spring (2-7).

Hancock 3, Berkeley Springs 0

HANCOCK - Christi Barnard had 11 assists and five kills to lead Hancock to a 15-2, 15-6, 15-4 victory.

Summer Beal added 12 assists for Hancock (4-2). Erica Winn had eight kills, Amanda Bingaman had five kills and Rebecca Thomas had 100 percent serving for the match.

Boonsboro 3, Clear Spring 0

BOONSBORO - Margo Miller and Katrina Woodhams had nine kills each to lead Boonsboro to a 15-6, 15-5, 15-8 sweep of Clear Spring. Steph Strite carded 100 percent serving for the Warriors (5-3).

Holly Aleshire led Clear Spring with seven assists, six kills and one block while Suzy Ernst added five kills and one block.

Hedgesville sweeps tri-match

HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Hedgesville defeated Goretti 15-5, 15-6, before collecting a 15-11, 15-5 win over Shenandoah for a two-match sweep in a tri-match.

Nicki Woodsmall led Hedgesville with 18 assists, 21 service points and 10 aces in the two games. Becca Hess had nine kills and Erica Anders had five kills.

Hannah Chambers led Goretti (7-5) with 16 service points and seven assists in a 15-13, 15-7 win over Shenandoah.

Julie Sanicola had 11 assists, and Mandi Hoffman and Jennifer Piccolomini each added six kills.

Heritage 3, New Life 0

FREDERICK, Md. - Stephanie Wann had 19 service points, including six aces, to lead Heritage Academy to a 15-6, 15-8, 15-3 win.

Julie Poe had 14 service points and six kills, while Megan Simpson had six assists and five service points for Heritage (2-6).
