Tuesday's roundup: Wildcats girls topple Leopards in OT

WILLIAMSPORT - Brooke Weimer scored the game-winning goal off a pass from Kaci Resau with 3:19 remaining in the second overtime Monday to lift the Williamsport Wildcats to a 4-3 victory over the Smithsburg Leopards.

Weimer and Stephanie Ritchie scored two goals each while Shannon Smiles and Skyler Sanders had one assist each for Williamsport (5-0-1) .

Alyson Daughtridge scored two goals, while Kyley Thompson had the other goal for Smithsburg (6-3).


St. John's-PH 2, New Life 0

FREDERICK, Md. - Goalkeeper Richard Gainer made 19 saves to help St. John's at Prospect Hall edge New Life.

Andy Ivins and Carmine Vignola scored one goal each, while Ryan Klinger and Jon Ballog had one assist each for St. John's.

Williamsport 5, S. Hagerstown 1

Matt Bowman scored four goals to power Williamsport (5-2) past South Hagerstown.

Matt Porac scored Williamsport's other goal. Chris Mills had the only goal for South Hagerstown (1-5-1).


Williamsport outshot South Hagerstown, 22-10. Scott Barrish and Chris McGee combined to make 21 saves for South Hagerstown.

Clear Spring 2, Boonsboro 1

BOONSBORO - Jared Thomas scored the winning goal on a penalty kick with 23:54 remaining to lift Clear Spring past Boonsboro.

Justin Saloom had Clear Spring's other goal. Rob Pongratz scored the only goal for Boonsboro (1-4-1).

Goalkeeper Sam Lind made 18 saves for Boonsboro, while Jeremiah Johnson had only seven saves for Clear Spring (3-4). Clear Spring outshot Boonsboro, 24-9


Smithsburg 3, Francis Scott Key 0

UNION BRIDGE, Md. - Kelli Martin contributed 25 assists, 15 points, two aces and two kills to lead Smithsburg to a 15-2, 15-10, 15-6 sweep of Francis Scott Key.

Carey Brennan scored 10 kills and eight blocks for Smithsburg (6-0, 3-0), while Rachel Bachtell finished with 11 kills and six points and Kelly Ashley added 10 points, four kills and four blocks. Casey Nogle had nine points, two kills, and two blocks and Heather Ashley made four blocks for the Leopards.

The Smithsburg JV team moved to 6-0 with a 13-15, 15-13, 15-4 victory.

Broadfording 3, Frederick Christian 0

FREDERICK, Md. - Kristin Heidebrink scored 11 service points to help Broadfording Christian Academy sweep Frederick Christian 15-12, 15-4 and 15-11. Ashley Mason had four kills for Broadfording (4-5).

Middletown 3, Walkersville 0

WALKERSVILLE, Md. - Dorian Whims collected 11 service points, eight assists, three kills and two aces to lead Middletown to a 15-9, 15-6, 15-11 victory over Walkersville.

Allison Johnson had two kills, two blocks and two digs for Middletown (3-2).

Boonsboro 3, Catoctin 0

THURMONT, Md. - Jade Whipp finished with 100 percent serving to help Boonsboro sweep Catoctin 15-10, 15-8, 15-7.

Katrina Woodhams added five kills for Boonsboro (4-3, 3-1).

Kristy Lenhart had seven assists, while Sarah Yocum had three digs for Catoctin (0-5). Mandy Ryder added three kills, while Karen Lewis had three assists..

FREDERICK, Md. - Mark Kubala shot a 41 to win medalist honors as Thomas Johnson outlasted Frederick. Jason Clipp led the Cadets with a 46.

Mussleman's Aaron Mueller fired a 40 to lift the Applemen past St. Maria Goretti and Highland View Academy. Josh Spreng carded a 41 to lead St. Maria Goretti, while Bobby Pedigo topped Highland View wiht a 42.

THURMONT, Md. - North Hagerstown's Ryan Allen carded a 42 to lead the Hubs to a trimatch victory.

Boonsboro 167, S. Hagerstown 177

Chaz Himes fired a 37 to lead Boonsboro to a 10-shot victory over South Hagerstown. Both Boonsboro's Brad Dixon and South Hagerstown's Chris Henson carded 42s.

Knights of the Turntable 13-16, South End Tavern 9-16: Mark Berger slugged two home runs, while Pork Wallech and Brian Lapole added one home run each for Knights of the Turntable. Rick Ricker homered for South End Tavern.

Washington Co. Flag Football League

Miller Lite 34, Gold's Gym 0: Danny Cunningham and Mark Burger combined to throw five touchdown passes to lead Miller Lite. Burger caught two touchdown while Chris Ricker, Travis Stoner and James Frisby caught one TD each. Kevin Dickens and Frisby each caught a two-point conversion. Heath Crone, Gary Spessard and Burger each had one interception.
