Elmira E. Hill

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Elmira E. "Tommie" Hill, 84, of 210 S. Fayette St., who died Saturday, Sept. 26, 1998, resided with the Fowler family and, for the last 10 years, resided with the Rev. Gary Keefer at the same address.

William N. Johnston

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - William N. Johnston, 69, of 740 Cumberland Ave., died Sunday, Sept. 27, 1998, at Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Chambersburg.

Born Jan. 6, 1929, in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Neil G. and Flossie L. Kyle Johnston.

He was an officer with and then chief of the Chambersburg Police Department. He retired in 1984 after 32 years. He was then employed by Unitas National Bank in Chambersburg, retiring in 1994.

A veteran of the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Navy.

He was a Protestant.

He was a former member of Oceanside (Calif.) Lodge 381 F.&A.M. He was a member of Harrisburg Consistory, Harrisburg, Pa., and a life member of Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW, B.P.O. Elks Lodge 600, and Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion, all in Chambersburg.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred M. Burkholder Johnston, whom he married Jan. 6, 1963; a son, Harold V. Burkholder of Chambersburg; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, a brother and a grandson.

Services will be Friday at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Ray L. Kauffman will officiate. Burial will be in Norland Cemetery, Chambersburg, with a military graveside service conducted by members of Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW.

Viewing will be at the funeral home Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m., and one hour prior to services on Friday.

Helen L. Moler

BRUNSWICK, Md. - Helen Louise Moler, 91, of 201 Ninth Ave., died Sunday, Sept. 27, 1998, at Reeders Memorial Home in Boonsboro.

Born Sept. 30, 1906, in Lucketts, Va., she was the daughter of the late Ernest I. and Mary Titus Loy.

Her husband, Forrest G. Moler, died in 1960.

She and her husband owned and operated Moler's Grocery in Brunswick.

She was a member of New York Hill United Methodist Church in Brunswick.

She is survived by a daughter, Jacqueline McCoy of Phoenix, Md.; two sons, Robert K. Moler and Forrest G. Moler Jr., both of Knoxville; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ellen Champion, and two brothers, Lester Loy and James Loy.

Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at New York Hill United Methodist Church, Brunswick. The Rev. Robert A. McCullough will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Leesburg, Va.

The family will receive friends at John T. Williams Funeral Home, 100 Petersville Road, Brunswick, today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

I. Ruth Kennedy

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - I. Ruth Kennedy, 79, of 253 College Ave., and formerly of 157 E. McKinley St., died Sunday, Sept. 27, 1998, at her daughter's home.

Born Feb. 28, 1919, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late William and Minnie Mae Michaels Myers.

Her husband, Vernon P. Kennedy, died in 1996.

Early in life, she was employed as a nurse's aide at Chambersburg Hospital.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church.

She also was a member of AARP.

She is survived by a daughter, Linda K. Heath of Chambersburg; and a granddaughter, Michele Heath of Chambersburg.

She was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.

Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family.

There will be no viewing.

Memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church, 225 S. Second St., Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.

Arrangements are by Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, Chambersburg.

Marguerite P. Monn

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Marguerite Spencer Parncutt Monn, 87, of 1611 Clayhill Road, died Saturday, Sept. 26, 1998, at Waynesboro (Pa.) Hospital.

Visitation will be held at Snyder-Lochstampfor Funeral Home, South Church and West Second streets, Waynesboro, today from 7 to 9 p.m.

Mildred I. Rockwell

QUINCY, Pa. - Mildred Irene Rockwell, 93, a resident of Quincy United Methodist Home, and formerly of 210 Park St., Waynesboro, Pa., died Friday, Sept. 25, 1998, at the home.

Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Snyder-Lochstampfor Funeral Home, South Church and West Second streets, Waynesboro.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services.
