MARION, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police were on their way to investigate a report of a possibly intoxicated bicyclist Saturday night when a Chambersburg, Pa., man was killed in a head-on collision with a car, according to Franklin County Chief Deputy Coroner Jeffrey Conner.

Eliceo Perez, 26, of Chambersburg, was pronounced dead at 10:20 p.m. in Chambersburg Hospital, according to Conner. He died of multiple trauma from the 9:58 p.m. accident on Molly Pitcher Highway north of Social Island Road, he said.

The police report said Perez was riding a bike south on U.S. 11 in the northbound lane in Guilford Township when he was hit by a 1995 Buick Lesabre driven by Galen Buckwalter, 67, of Greencastle, Pa.

"It was alcohol-related," Conner said Sunday.

"Someone had just reported him to the state police in the vicinity of Abe's Auto Service," 3066 Molly Pitcher Highway, Conner said. The caller told police he saw a man fall off a bicycle twice, according to Conner.

As of Sunday afternoon, state police did not have a positive identification of Perez. On Sunday evening, Conner said he identified Perez as the victim and said he lived in the South Main Street area of Chambersburg.

"Nobody's 100 percent sure where he was staying," Conner said. Perez lived in the area for about five years, he said.

Conner said a borough police officer was able to identify Perez and a cousin was found in the Chambersburg area.

The police report said the accident was still under investigation.

Buckwalter was not injured and no charges were filed against him, the report said.
