The accident backed up westbound traffic for more than a mile. It took about an hour to clear the scene.
The bus driver was not hurt, according to Bigler.
Mercersburg, Pa., and St. Thomas ambulances, Medic I ALS and a unit from the Franklin Fire Company assisted firefighters at the scene, Bigler said.
Pa. man charged in assault of kids
ST. THOMAS, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police charged a St. Thomas man with simple assault and making terroristic threats in an incident involving two children on Monday.
The police report said Donald Steven Bumbaugh, 34, of 4603 Pine St., was arraigned before District Justice David Hawbaker and taken to Franklin County Prison on $25,000 bond. A prison official said he was still in jail Wednesday.
The report alleged that a man kicked a 5-year-old boy in the lower back, knocking him into a freezer, and threatened to slit the throat of a 6-year-old girl.
The children are related to Bumbaugh and the the incident occurred at his address at about 4:30 p.m., according to allegations in the police report.
Man faces charge of endangering
GREENCASTLE, Pa. - A Greencastle man was charged with recklessly endangering another person in an incident that occurred on Sherwood Drive in Antrim Township, Pa., early Sunday, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
Mark Christian Harsh, 25, of 14683 Sherwood Drive, was charged in the incident, which occurred at 1:45 a.m. near Hykes Road, police said.
A Ford Ranger was driven in a reckless manner toward Candy Sue Barnes of Greencastle, police said. She was walking on the roadside at the time, police said.
At about 6 p.m. Sunday, Harsh was the driver of a vehicle involved in a collision at the intersection of Pa. 16 and Anderson Road, according to a state police report released Monday.
Harsh and two other people sustained minor injuries in that crash, according to police. The driver of the other vehicle, Paul P. Nagy, 51, of Mercersburg, Pa., was taken to York (Pa.) Hospital.
W.Va. woman faces drug charges
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - A Martinsburg woman was arrested Wednesday morning after police witnessed crack cocaine being sold to an informant, according to Berkeley County Magistrate Court records.
Barbara Jean Brown, 44, of 209 N. Raleigh St., was charged with delivery of crack cocaine, according to court records.
The informant picked up a woman near Martin Street and drove to the Wendy's restaurant on North Queen Street, where she paged someone from a pay phone, according to court records.
When the person didn't show, she told the informant she had a $20 piece of crack in a vial, according to court records.
The informant offered her $10, but she insisted on $20, according to court records.
The informant paid her in recorded currency, which was recovered among her personal items in a plastic bag when she was arrested nearby, according to allegations contained in court records.
Magistrate Sandra L. Miller set bond at $20,000, according to court records.
Two arrested in shoplifting
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - A Kearneysville, W.Va., man and an Inwood, W.Va., woman were arrested in connection with a Sept. 9 shoplifting incident at the Sears store in the Martinsburg Mall, according to Berkeley County Magistrate Court records.
A man and woman were seen taking items from displays at the store and taking them out to the parking lot, where they were confronted by store security, according to court records.
After giving back some items, including a Craftsman chain saw, Craftsman drill and multitool kit, they left in a green Ford Bronco, according to court records.
Robert Shannon Phipps, 28, of P.O. Box 462, was arrested Tuesday, according to court records.
Cathy Jane Bohrer, 30, of P.O. Box 956, was arrested Monday, according to court records.
Man wanted in Md. arrested in W.Va.
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - A man wanted in Hagerstown was arrested Monday in Berkeley County, W.Va., according to court records.
Walter Frank Barnhart Jr., 31, address unavailable, was charged with giving false information to police and two counts of obstructing an officer as well as being a fugitive from justice, according to Berkeley County Magistrate Court records.
Details of the arrest were not included in court records.
Barnhart faces charges of first-degree assault, three counts of second-degree assault and reckless endangerment in Washington County, according to court records.
