St. James - Jamie Holzapfel scored twice, including one to put St. James ahead for good, as the Saints rallied from a 2-1 deficit Sunday night to beat Highland View, 6-3.

Hans Baumann, John Ottley, Kyu Ho Kim, Steve Bumby all scored for St. James (2-0), which outshot the Tartans, 24-12. Gernan Bernhardt, Johnny Grullon and Peter Byrd scored for Highland View.

Mercersburg Academy 2 Musselman 0

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Emory Mort's goal in the 38th minute was more than enough Saturday as Mercersburg Academy shut out Musselman in its season opener.

Chris Miller assisted on the goal. Garth Semple put the game away with a goal off a Josh Grahe feed in the second half against the Applemen (2-3).

Spartans 2nd in own tourney

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Central of Martinsburg defeated McConnellsburg 15-10, 15-14 Saturday in the championship game of the ninth annual McConnellsburg Lady Spartan Volleyball Tournament.

McConnelsburg went 8-0 in pool play, and Williamsport went 7-1. Central beat Williamsport in one semifinal, 14-16, 15-12, 12-15, and McConnelsburg beat Greencastle 15-9, 15-8 in the other. Williamsport won the consolation game, 15-6 over Greencastle.

Mercersburg Academy 3 Harrrisburg Academy 0

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Lindsey Coates, Amy Wagshal and Cathy Hubbard all scored in the second half as the Blue Storm won its season opener.

Cathy Wahl had six saves in goal for Mercersburg (1-0).

Smithsburg Jaguars 12, Hagerstown Eagles 0: Matt Miller and Jamal Campbell scored touchdowns for the Jaguars.

Williamsport Ravens 25, Hagerstown Chiefs 13: Marcus Scott scored three touchdowns and rushed for 150 yards. Cullen Hemphill also scored for the Ravens, and Jonathan Clark scored an extra point.

Ron Carpenter and Vernon Valentine scored for the Chiefs.

Wade Elwood had a goal and an assist to lead the Blast. Sid Shupp and Rocky Bishop also scored goals for Clear Spring.

Drew Holler had a goal and an assist to help the Blast raise its record to 4-1.
