Volunteers sought for Operation Pride and Groom

September 14, 1998

Hagerstown City Councilman J. Wallace McClure is kicking off Operation Pride and Groom this Saturday and is looking for volunteers to help clean up the city.

Under McClure's program, volunteers will clean up public properties that tend to be scattered with trash and weeds.

Volunteers will meet at the Mid-City parking lot off East Washington Street near North Locust Street at 2 p.m., McClure said. The cleanup will wrap up at 4 p.m.

McClure said volunteers should wear long sleeves to guard against poison ivy, long pants in case they need to kneel, sneakers and gloves. The city will provide needed tools and materials.

Anyone interested in volunteering can call McClure at 301-797-6989.
