Cohousing development coming to Frederick Co.

September 13, 1998

LIBERTYTOWN, Md. - Liberty Village, a cohousing community, has signed a development loan with Woodsboro Bank of Woodsboro, Md., to begin construction of its 38-unit neighborhood in Libertytown, according to a press release from Liberty Village.

First home occupancy is expected in January.

The lots that are being sold will include 34 duplex units, one single-family unit and three full-size lots. Of these, six duplex units have been designated for homes designed for the physically handicapped.

Only 17 lots are still available.

In cohousing communities, private homes are clustered around a "common house" with shared facilities such as a playroom for children, workshops, guest rooms, sitting areas and a dining area. Future residents design and develop their own community and are then responsible for its management.

Liberty Village will be built on 8 acres, leaving 15 acres for open space and forests.

For information, call 1-800-400-0621 or visit the Liberty Village Web site at www.libertyvillage.com or e-mail info@libertyvillage.com.
