Classroom grants available in W.Va.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Mini-grants for classroom projects, dental health and Working on Wellness are available to public schools throughout West Virginia, according to the The Education Alliance.

West Virginia public school teachers are eligible to apply for mini-grants for classroom projects to receive up to $500 for enhancement of hands-on learning. Teachers and school nurses can apply for dental health mini-grants. The application deadline is Oct. 23.

Working on Wellness grants up to $1,000 are available to state schools interested in developing coordinated school health programs. Schools can apply for funds to address tobacco use, alcohol and drug abuse, sedentary lifestyle, poor nutrition and behaviors leading to unintended pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases.
