Woman faces charges after car crashes into home

A home on Greenberry Road was damaged late Saturday when a car left the road and crashed into it, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Department.

The accident occurred just hours after another vehicle crashed into a home in Smithsburg.

Rosario F. Pura of Hagerstown, who was driving the 1992 Honda Accord, was treated at Washington County Hospital and released on Sunday, according to a hospital spokeswoman. She was charged with negligent driving, deputies said.

According to deputies, the car left the road shortly before midnight and traveled about 300 feet into a home at 11348 Greenberry Road.

John Reynolds was in the basement at the time and was not hurt, deputies said.

The house, however, sustained substantial damage, deputies said.

It was the second time in less than eight hours that a vehicle crashed into a home in Washington County.

At 4:46 p.m. Saturday, a car crashed into the porch of a home at 12119 Wolfsville Road in Smithsburg, deputies said.

Two Fayetteville, Pa., brothers were charged in connection with that accident.

Bicycle stolen

A bicycle was stolen from a Hagerstown residence overnight Saturday, according to Hagerstown City Police.

The red and yellow Kawaha 10-speed was taken from 67 Murph Ave., police said.
