Some downtown streets to close Monday

August 28, 1998

Some downtown streets will be closed Monday as crews continue to lay conduit to upgrade downtown traffic signals, said Gary Street, Lockheed Martin's project manager.

North Potomac Street between Church and Franklin streets and West Antietam Street between Burhans Boulevard and West Washington Street will be closed in the morning, Street said. They are expected to reopen by noon.

Morning road closings will start after 9 a.m. since school starts Monday so school buses won't be impeded, he said.

North Jonathan Street between West Washington and West Franklin streets and High Street between West Washington and West Franklin streets will be closed Monday afternoon, Street said.

There will be alternating lane closings on Franklin Street throughout the week and some lanes could be closed on side streets, he said.
