Thursday's roundup - Hubs win County golf title

North Hagerstown's Bryan Huffman carded an 80 to win individual medalist honors and lead the Hubs to the team championship in the inaugural Washington County Golf Championships Thursday at Black Rock Country Club.

North shot 344 to best Boonsboro by 17 strokes. Williamsport finished third at 367 followed by Clear Spring with a 440.

Chaz Himes of Boonsboro finished second with an 81, while Ryan Moul of North and Justin Neikirk of Williamsport tied for third with 87s.


Hagerstown Church Softball

Grace 15, Church of the Brethren 3: Bud Allen had five hits to lead Grace. Kenny Shanholtz and Larry Ickerberger had three hits each.


Pinesburg Softball

Ernst Market 39, Hagerstown Reps 4: Jim Fitz, Earl Rowland, Mike Shupp and Mike Crowl had five hits each to lead Ernst Market to a three-games-to-one win over Hagerstown Reps in a best-of-five playoff series. Stevie Gordon, Jeff Beatty and Ron Avey had four hits each.

J&W Mechanical 25, West End 4: Thornie Linn had five hits, and Jeff Seilhamer and Adam Moore had four each to lead J&W. Ernst Market and J&W advance into a best-of-five playoff series.
