Break-in attempt foiled

August 28, 1998

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Police caught a man Wednesday night allegedly trying to break into Valley Hardware Co. on Washington Street in Charles Town, according to Charles Town Police Chief Mike Aldridge.

The man was caught while police were conducting a night patrol in an attempt to solve a string of breaking-and-entering incidents at area businesses, Aldridge said.

A total of 15 businesses in Charles Town and Ranson, W.Va., have been the target of break-ins in the last five weeks, he said.

"There was some good police work on this," said Aldridge.

Carl Lee Moore, age unavailable, of 305 E. Fourth Ave., Ranson, was charged with attempted breaking and entering.
