August 27, 1998

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - About 70 patients from a Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Hampton, Va., were moved to the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg Wednesday night to be sure they were safe from Hurricane Bonnie.

The patients were moved as a precautionary measure, said Doris Griffin, spokeswoman for the local VA hospital.

It was not known how the VA hospital in Hampton fared in the storm. It is not known how long the patients, who were brought here by bus, will stay at the local hospital, said Griffin.
