August 25, 1998

A Waynesboro, Pa., man was killed and two Hagerstown residents were injured early Monday when their vehicle ran off Marsh Pike, hit a fence and rolled several times, police said.

The driver, Scott E. Miller, 21, of 1580 State Line Road, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 1:30 a.m. accident by Dr. Howard Weeks, a Washington County medical examiner.

Passengers Jason Clarence Horst, 21, of 17638 Garden View Drive, and Joshua James Hager, 19, of 11046 Eastwood Drive, were taken to Washington County Hospital.

Horst was treated and released and Hager was in fair condition Monday night, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Deputy Kenneth Cain of the Washington County Sheriff's Department said Miller was northbound in the 15700 block of Marsh Pike when he lost control of his 1997 Volkswagen and left the roadway.
