FCC to offer high-tech classes

FREDERICK, Md. - Frederick County, Md., residents will soon be able to get advanced computer, telecommunications and fiber optics training in some of the most sought-after fields when Frederick Community College and two partners open the Information Technology Training Center in October.

FCC officials and representatives from two high-tech companies announced the project Wednesday during a press conference at the college campus. The I/Tech Center will have sophisticated computers and classrooms, as well as a deli, in the Buckeystown Pike Office Center on Md. 85 in Frederick.

FCC will open the center in conjunction with I/Tech Services, a computer training company. Through I/Tech, FCC will offer a variety of computer classes, including Microsoft certified systems engineering, computer technician training and Web master certification.

The college will also offer training in fiber optics and telecommunications through a partnership with Wrightco Technologies Inc., a nationally recognized leader in fiber optics, communications, voice, data, video and security alarm technology training.

Wrightco will offer classes in fiber optics communication, combination telecommunications and electric alarm installation service, communications installation and testing, and fiber optics installation and testing.
