August 18, 1998

WILLIAMSPORT - Two Hagerstown men were charged Monday with two counts of armed robbery after $361 was stolen from the AC&T Gas Mart on Sunday night, according to Maryland State Police.

Robert Michael Edwards, 22, of 316 S. Potomac St., and Cosmos Charles, 18, of 111 W. Church St., also were charged with two counts of robbery, two counts of armed robbery, two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of second-degree assault and theft, police said.

Hagerstown City Police officer Terry Hose stopped an older model gray Oldsmobile for going the wrong way down an alley shortly after midnight Sunday when he determined the car matched the description of one involved in the robbery, said Trooper 1st Class Mike Kretzer.

A weapon was displayed during the 10:30 p.m. robbery at the 16504 Virginia Ave. Gas Mart, but Kretzer would not say what kind.
