The Clarks

Harold and Mildred "Polly" Clark of Hagerstown celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, July 19, 1998, at Hagerstown City Park.

The celebration was hosted by their seven children, Carol Hann, Theresa Souders, Debra Hann, Susan Poffenberger, Timothy Clark, Mary Keller and Darryl "Duke" Clark.

The Clarks were married Aug. 28, 1948, by the Rev. G.I. Rider.

Mrs. Clark is the former Mildred "Polly" Armstrong.

Mr. Clark served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in India. He retired from Mack Trucks Inc. in 1986.

They have 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The Bears

Wilbur and Gladys Bear of Greencastle, Pa., were honored Saturday, June 27, 1998, at a surprise 50th wedding anniversary party at Antrim House Restaurant in Greencastle.

The luncheon buffet for 40 family members and friends was hosted by their daughter, Sandy Bear of Harrisburg, Pa., and their son, Jim Bear of Sandusky, Ohio.

The Bears were married July 2, 1948, in Hagerstown, in the parsonage of St. Paul's Evangelistic United Brethren Church by the Rev. F. Berry Plummer.

Mrs. Bear is the daughter of the late Walter and Alta Gelwicks. She is retired from Greencastle-Antrim School District.

Mr. Bear is the son of the late Norman and Mary Bear. He is a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. He is retired from the U.S. Postal Service.

They have three grandchildren, one step-grandchild and a great-grandchild.
