A Boonsboro man was sentenced Tuesday for pulling a false fire alarm.
Washington County District Judge Ralph France gave Joseph Edward Purcell, 21, of 121 S. Main St., Boonsboro, a 30-day suspended jail sentence, court records said.
In addition, France placed Purcell on probation for one year, and ordered him to pay $1,312 restitution to the City of Hagerstown - the calculated cost for the city's firefighters to respond to a street alarm with about a half dozen pieces of fire equipment, court records said.
That money must be paid by Dec. 28, according to Hagerstown Fire Marshal Tom Brown who apprehended Purcell on June 25.
