National 11, Halfway 6: Gary Wolfe had three hits, including a home run. Nate Steelman, Patrick Hutzler and Brady Barr each had two hits for National.

Heather Taylor led Halfway with two hits.

National over Clear Spring: Winning pitcher Ryan Rau scattered six hits and Brian Gossard had four hits to lead National. Nate Steelman had three hits, A.J. Bandeff and Patrick Hutzler had two hits.

Kris Reeves had two hits for Clear Spring.

Pinesburg Softball League

Pick's Place won five games over the weekend to win the USSSA Class B NIT tournament in Landover, Md., defeating an All Navy team from Annapolis, Md., 19-15 to win championship. Pick's Place earned a berth to the USSSA World Series in Lubbock, Texas on Sept. 25-28.

Pick's Place defeated Harrison of Virginia Beach, 30-12; J & S of Wilmington, N.C., 15-10; Marters Sheet Metal of Frederick, 14-7; and Sluggers of Charlotte, N.C., 14-5 to reach the finals.

Pick's Place was led by Mick Byers, John Hartle, Rick Grove, Jeff Reynolds, Rocky Wills, Bill Bakner, Alan Harsh, Tony Corbin and Kenny Kirby, who all hit over .600.

Tri-State Independant League

West End 14, Counter Space 12: Danny Smith had three hits with a homer and Mo Vaughn had two hits to lead West End.

West End 7, Counter Space 6: Mo Vaughn had three hits, Denny Bryan had two hits, Lyle Shifflett had two hits with a home run and Chris Hammond had three hits for West End.

Counter Space 13, West End 12: Ed Earney had three hits with a homer and Chuck Timbrook had three hits for Counter Space. Denny Bryan had four hits, Rob Schifflet had four hits, Butch Hess and Danny Smith had two hits each for West End.

West End 20, Counter Space 18: Brent Reley had four hits including two home runs, Mo Vaughn had four hits with a homer, Gerald Ricker had three hits and Danny Smith had four hits for West End. Mike House had three hits for Counter Space.
