Anglers rescued from rock in the Potomac

SANDY HOOK - Two anglers were rescued Friday night from a rock in the Potomac River after one of them fell between two rocks and hurt an ankle, authorities said.

A 911 call for a possible river rescue came in at 8:24 p.m., said Washington County Fire and Rescue Communications.

The person with the ankle injury was rescued with a kayak and later taken to the hospital by Frederick County authorities. Another person who was unable to get off the rock was rescued by helicopter, the dispatcher said.
