Frederick Co. facilities plan released

FREDERICK, Md. - Frederick County Schools Superintendent Jack Dale recently released the staff-recommended annual update of the school system's Educational Facilities Master Plan.

The document contains the school system's proposed schedule of new school construction, building additions and major maintenance projects for the next 10 years. Also included for the next six years are cost estimates associated with these projects.

The recommendations contained in the 10-year plan represent the staff's best efforts to respond to an expected 6,300 student increase between 1997 and 2007. The plan recommends construction of 12 schools and additions to 14 others. Also included is a series of projects to improve technology and science classrooms as well as ongoing maintenance projects for roofs, boilers and other building systems.

The board has scheduled a public hearing for 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14, at the 7630 Hayward Road administrative offices.
