County plans to hire family coordinator

Washington County plans to hire a full-time Federal Family Preservation Coordinator to administer a $187,500 grant from the federal government.

The Washington County Commissioners unanimously voted to post the new job with a salary of $29,991 at their meeting Tuesday. The salary for the job will be paid with grant funds.

The county has applied for a five-year extension of the one-year Federal Family Preservation grant.

The new position would be discontinued if the grant funds are lost.

Three staff members administer 19 mini-grants to agencies and nonprofit groups in the county.
