The Greencastle Sand Castle Competition will be from 2:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the sand volleyball court at the north end of Jerome R. King playground in Greencastle, Pa.

Groups of five or six people of any age are invited to participate. Children under 12 need adult supervision.

There is no charge to participate, but registration is due by Tuesday. Forms are available at the library.

Participants are asked to put their phone books inside the designated containers to protect them from foul weather. Rain-soaked books cannot be recycled.

Containers are monitored on a regular basis, but if customers find a container that is full, they can call the recycling office at 1-717-261-3855.

The recycled books will again be used for animal bedding.




The revised version of the Community Services Directory, compiled by the Health and Human Services Council of the Eastern Panhandle, is available for purchase. The book includes information about community resources pertinent to Berkeley, Jefferson and Morgan counties.

In loose-leaf format, the directory is composed of agency and organization information sheets. It includes alphabetical and categorical indexing and a list of toll-free numbers.

The cost of the directory is $15 with a binder cover and $13 without the cover for noncouncil members. Council members receive one copy as part of their membership.
