July 29, 1998

CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Three Berkeley County, W.Va., nonprofit organizations were certified recently for participation in the 1999 Neighborhood Investment Program.

Berkeley County Meals on Wheels, Berkeley Senior Services and Community Networks Inc. were selected to participate in the program, administered by the West Virginia Development Office.

Through the program, qualified nonprofit organizations may use state tax credits as an incentive for potential contributors to fund new or ongoing projects. Projects primarily must serve economically disadvantaged citizens of the state and are subject to review and approval by the Neighborhood Investment Advisory Board.

Participants have until June 30, 1999, to distribute their allocation of tax credits. The minimum eligible donation upon which a tax credit can be issued is $500 and the maximum donation eligible is $200,000.
