Pa. man injured in 1-car accident

FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - A Chambersburg, Pa., man suffered minor injuries Sunday night in a one-vehicle accident on Pa. 233 in Greene Township, Pa.

Pennsylvania State Police said Arthur David Bishop, 24, was traveling north about two miles north of U.S. 30 when he lost control of a 1988 Ford Mustang at 10:15 p.m. The car ran off the road about 60 feet and hit a tree, police said.

Bishop, who was not wearing a seat belt, was treated at Chambersburg Hospital and released, according to a hospital spokesman.

Pa. man charged in domestic dispute

FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police charged a Fayetteville man with harassment and disorderly conduct after they responded to a report of shots being fired Monday.


The report said neighbors called 911 at 9:48 p.m. to report hearing shots fired. Police went to the home of Wayne E. and Herma Wagaman, 11083 South Mountain Road, but determined that no shots had been fired.

Police filed charges against Wayne Wagaman, 55, in the incident.

The report said Herma Wagaman, 56, was shoved by a man and that the domestic fight took place in public.

Possible marijuana found in wooded lot

Officers from the Regional DEA Task Force confiscated five suspected marijuana plants Monday from a wooded lot behind 18057 West Oak Ridge Drive, according to a report by the Washington County Sheriff's Department.

The plants were seized after a man who was clearing the lot at about noon found them. They were about 3 to 4 feet high and planted in pots, the report said.

String of burglaries under investigation

FREDERICK, Md. - Frederick County Sheriff's deputies are investigating a rash of burglaries in at least six homes in the Knoxville, Md., area from July 17 to 19, according to a sheriff's report.

The first happened during the early hours of July 17 in the 3600 block of Petersville Road while the homeowners were away, the report said. When they returned, the homeowners discovered various items were stolen, the report said.

A second burglary occurred in the evening on the same date in the 3500 block of Chick Lane, the report said.

The homeowners returned to find that a door had been forced open, but nothing appeared to be missing, the report said.

That same evening, another home in the area was the target of an attempted entry.

At about 11 p.m. July 18 , the owners of a residence in the 1100 block of Martha's Court East, in the Maple Crest Community, returned and heard someone inside, the report said. They called 911 from a neighbor's home, but the intruder fled before police arrived, the report said.

The burglar stole jewelry from that home, the report said.

While deputies were investigating that burglary, another homeowner in the same community returned home and discovered that jewelry was missing from there as well, the report said.

Maryland State Police also are also investigating a burglary on July 19 in the 3600 block of Petersville Road.

Man holds police at bay in Frederick

FREDERICK, Md. - A 39-year-old Frederick man held police off for more than an hour Monday inside a home at 534 Ellrose Court, according to a report by Frederick City Police.

An ambulance crew, called to the address at about 12:13 p.m., found a man on the floor of the home, the report said.

When they woke him, the man went to a drawer and took out a handgun and began loading it, the report said. The ambulance crew and the man's daughter then left the home, the report said.

For the next 11/2 hours, police unsuccessfully tried to reach the man by telephone, the report said.

It was believed the man fired a gun inside the home, according to the report.

The Frederick Police Special Response Team entered the home and took the man, who was allegedly intoxicated, into custody, the report said.

He was taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital for a mental evaluation, the report said.

There were no injuries, and no evidence of a fired gun was found in the home, the report said.

Man charged in pair of burglaries

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A borough man was charged Friday in two burglaries that occurred at an Orrstown, Pa., greenhouse in April and May.

Pennsylvania State Police said Raymond Jason Kress, 26, of 331 High St., was charged with two counts of burglary in break-ins at the Lurgan Greenhouse, 8126 Oakdale Road, that occurred on April 6 and May 18. The report said $500 in cash was taken in the first incident and $100 in the second.

Kress was arraigned before District Justice John P. Weyman and posted bail of $1,500 on each charge, according to the police report.

Man charged with indecent exposure

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - A Hagerstown man was charged with indecent exposure Friday after a woman playing tennis at Jefferson High School reported a man exposed his genitals to her, according to West Virginia State Police.

The incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. in the school's athletic field area, according to Sgt. Scott Paugh.
