Wednesday's roundup - Federal, American stay alive

Daniel Plank had four hits, including a home run, to lead Federal to an 11-7 win over Frostburg in a District 1 11-12 year-old loser's bracket game. William Mulieri added two hits, including a home run, for the winners. Ben Lloyd and Colby Thompson added two hits apiece. Maylon Harper had three hits, including a home run, for Frostburg. Nathan Jackson and Erik Parker added two hits each.

American 1, Maugansville 0: Kyle Robinson tossed a three-hitter with 10 strikeouts to lead American over Maugansville. American scored its only run on a passed ball with the bases loaded. T.J. Hose threw a two-hitter with seven strikeouts for Maugansville.

Oakland 4, South Mountain 2: Chris Hoffman and Billy Reams each homered for Oakland. Reams also had two hits, while Hoffman finished with two hits and two RBIs. Corey Burrell pitched a three-hitter and struck out eight for the win.


Colt League Sectional

Harundale 8, Greencastle 5: Nick Kosceliak and Matt Watts each had three hits to lead Harundale.

Hagerstown B 8, Hagerstown Colts 5: Tim Hawkins had two hits to lead Hagerstown B. Mike Stevens had two hits for the Colts.

Hagerstown B 10, Harundale 3: Bobby Ord, Joe McGhee, Rick Myers each had two hits to lead Hagerstown B.

Columbia 9, Greencastle 1: Dave Koch and Tim Hartman had two hits each for Columbia.

Columbia 12, Chambersburg 7: Tim Hartman homered to lead Columbia. Jason Bard, Earl Cleary and Jesse Brosius each had two hits for Chambersburg.

Harundale 7, Chambersburg 2: Nick Kosceliak and Bob Brucks had two hits, and Kosceliak and Chris Rowley homered to lead Harundale.

Washington Co. Sr. Girls Softball

Lightning Transportation 9, Winter Brothers 2: Melanie Price and Jocelyn Price combined on a two-hitter for Lightning Transportation. Jocelyn Price gave up no hits and struck out 10 in four innings. Lauren Younker led the winners with four hits, while Sara Trumpower added three.

Williamsport Redmen 10, Post 202 3: Lindsey Secrest had four hits, including two triples, to lead Redmen. Shannon Smiles added two hits, including a home run, for the winners. Beth Stevens had two hits.

First United Bank 11-8, Aladdin Awards 4-1: B.J. Greenwood and Emily Crunkleton had two hits apiece and Lauren Reed struck out nine to lead First United Bank in game one. Wanda Blank had two hits for Aladdin. Crunkleton had seven strikeouts and Lauren Reed had two hits for First United Bank in game two. Heidi Hockman had two hits for Aladdin.


Hagerstown Area Church Softball

Christ Reform/St. James 22, Otterbein 14: Lloyd Kelly hit two home runs, Brad Moore had three hits and Adam Shank and Warren Sauble had two hits each for Christ Reform/St. James.

Hub City Softball

Hub City Liquors 17, Eddie's Upholstery 12: Brian Chaney had five hits, Scott Osborne and Blaine Smith had four hits each, while Osborne homered for Hub City Liquors.

Tony's Pizza 20, Lenox 9: Chuck Mundey had five hits, Kevin Richards, Denny Moats and Paul Plume had four hits apiece, while Plume homered for Tony's Pizza.

Pinesburg Softball League

Pick's Place 2 20, Reps 9: Bobby Tritsch and Kevin Weddle had five hits each to lead Pick's Place 2. Terry Getridge, Todd Beck and Mike McCauley added three hits each, while Mark Scott homered for the winners.

Ernst Market 26, West End 17: Ronnie Shoemaker had five hits, including two home runs, and Dale Leyvig had four hits to lead Ernst Market. Jon Keys had three hits for West End.

Blue Ridge Adult Baseball

Hagerstown 14, Chambersburg 1: Nate Reeser had three hits and five RBIs to lead the Hagerstown Braves over the Chambersburg Maroons. Pat Sweeney had two hits, including his 13th home run of the season, Kevin Crawford had two hits and two RBIs and Dan Summers had two hits for the winners. Mark Shives pitched a four-hitter with eight strikeouts for the Braves (29-7, 21-3).
