Evelyn A. Rhodes

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Evelyn A. Rhodes, 81, of R.D. 1, Box 561, died Monday, July 13, 1998, at Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg.

Born Jan. 1, 1917, in McConnellsburg, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Violet Deshong Barnhart.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert I. Rhodes.

She was a housewife.

She was a member of McConnellsburg Assembly of God Church.

She is survived by three sisters, Hazel Sowers of Everett, Pa., Eleanor Ritchey of Hancock and Mary Rohm of McConnellsburg; and four brothers, Robert Barnhart of McConnellsburg, Roy Barnhart and Isaac Barnhart, both of Wells Tannery, Pa., and Lloyd Barnhart of Greencastle, Pa.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Sherry Rhodes.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 322 N. Second St., McConnellsburg. The Rev. Belvy White will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, McConnellsburg.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and one hour prior to the service Thursday. The funeral home will be open Wednesday from 2 to 9 p.m.

Elliott M. Mackereth

Elliott M. Mackereth, 60, of Hagerstown, died Saturday, July 11, 1998, at Colton Villa Nursing Center, Hagerstown.

Born Aug. 29, 1937, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Clinton and Evelyn Robertson Mackereth Sr.

He was a member of Hagerstown High School class of 1954.

He was employed as a press operator at Danzer Metal Works.

He was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church.

He also was a member of Carpenter's Union Local 340.

He was a baseball and basketball fan.

He is survived by one daughter, Leslie C. Saunders of Hagerstown; three sons, Kevin Mackereth, Eric D. Mackereth and Lloyd P. Mackereth, all of Hagerstown; three sisters, Gay Younker of Hancock, Carol Whitmore of Hagerstown and Elvanne Sturbel of Mound, Minn.; three brothers, Clifton Mackereth Jr., Richard Mackereth and Larry Mackereth, all of Hagerstown; and three grandchildren.

Services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. Pastor Bill L. Clark will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Williamsport.

Visitation will be at the funeral home 30 minutes prior to the service.

James E. Fox Sr.

James E. "Jim" Fox Sr., 62, of Interval Road, Hagerstown, died Wednesday, July 8, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.

Born May 22, 1936, in Edgemont, he was the son of the late Victor L. and Dorothy J. Law Fox.

He was in the construction business.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

He is survived by five daughters, Ruth Gorman, Teresa Fox, Kitty Fox, Gloria Domer and Loretta Brown, all of Hagerstown; one son, James E. Fox Jr. of Hagerstown; one sister, Martha Bitner of Leitersburg; a friend, Barbara Pradel of Hagerstown; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Dorothy Fox; and one brother, Daniel Fox.

A memorial service will be held Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Park Road Bible Church, 750 Park Road, Hagerstown. Pastor Ronald Key will officiate. Burial will be in Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery in Flintstone, Md., at the convenience of the family.

There will be no viewing.

Arrangements are by Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg.

Mary F. Peacock

Mary French Peacock, 77, of 398 1/2 Bryan Place, Hagerstown, died Sunday, July 12, 1998, at her home.

Born July 20, 1920, in Bath, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Paul Howard and Marion Scott French.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Percy Kenneth Peacock, in 1976.

She was employed by Westinghouse in Bath, retiring in 1980. She also worked part time for Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital, Bath.

She was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Bath.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda Spann and Paula M. Naylor, both of Hagerstown; one son, Chris J. Peacock of Greenwood, Ind.; one sister, Kaye A. Dorsey of Bath; one brother, Paul Scott French of Ellicott City, Md.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Patricia Ann Peacock and Rikki I. Davis; one son, Edward J. Peacock; and one brother, Edward French.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.

There will be no viewing or visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 101 E. Baltimore St., Hagerstown, Md. 21740.

Lillian R. Bennett

GREAT CACAPON, W.Va. - Lillian Rose Bennett, 83, of Great Cacapon, died Monday, July 13, 1998, at her home.

Born May 23, 1915, in Largent, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Lawrence McKinley and Flora Edith Merchant Batt.

She attended Enon School, Largent.

She was a homemaker.

She was of the Protestant faith.
