Executives from Mack Trucks Inc. and United Auto Workers announced Friday that they have tentatively agreed on terms for a new contract covering UAW workers at Mack plants in four states.
UAW Vice President Jack Laskowski and Mack Executive Vice President Samuel L. Torrence said they will not discuss details of the agreement until it has been approved.
Representatives of Mack Trucks Inc. and United Auto Workers Local 171 declined comment.
Mack spokesman John Mies said a more detailed statement would be released after local bargaining units ratify the agreement. The ratification meetings are scheduled July 18-19.
The contract, if approved, would apply to about 3,500 UAW members in Maryland, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Georgia.
The previous five-year agreement expires Oct. 30, Mies said.
