Mail Call

July 09, 1998

"Good morning, Mail Call. I was just going over an old issue of The Daily Mail and it's dated Friday, March 17, 1961, and it discusses some of the business of the County Commissioners. It's interesting to note that in 1961 we had a Snook as a County Commissioner. His name was Harry Snook and we had a Charles Downey also as a Commissioner. My question is - when did we not have a Snook as a County Commissioner? I'd like for you to print this because this is an election year and it might be interesting for the newcomers to realize that this was 1961. Thank you."

"Yes Mail Call. I don't mean to bring up a sore subject but to the voters voting for the School Board members in this coming election. Remember Mickey Myers and the big mess out in Smithsburg and how sick and tired we all got with that. They didn't want her for a mayor so stop and think. Do we want her on the School Board to control things there? It's already a mess without her. Please think about this when voting for School Board members. Thank you."

"Hi, this is Linda Irvin-Craig. I'm calling to answer those folks who are attacking me in Mail Call on the sewer issue. First of all I'm not running from it, I'm not hiding from it. I was the only Commissioner in 1994 willing to put this issue on the front burner and I'm still willing to keep it there. I plan to have several public discussions about this issue and for those of you who would like to know where I stood on the issue and where I now stand, you may call me at my home. The number is 301-739-1481."

"I cannot believe that anyone would believe that our God is just a thought. God is the spirit and He is everywhere, knows all and hears all. We are all made in God's image. When his son Jesus walked the earth He was truly a man. Oh sweet mystery of life."

"In response to the Mail Callers who have been calling in regards to former Washington County Circuit Judge John Corderman running for County Commissioner. The criticisms leveled at him concerning his anti-gun stance, his membership in a country club and his pension from serving as a judge are all unwarranted. This man is well qualified to be a County Commissioner."

"This is to Linda Irvin-Craig. We haven't forgotten the sewer mess you helped get us into and the voters should be aware that the liberals are alive for Linda Irvin-Craig."

"It's hard for me to believe that our country, President Clinton and Congress are so naive to give China favorite nation trading status again so that they can send one-third of their products over here for us to buy. They are a communist country and we're making them stronger and we should be afraid of them instead of helping them to become stronger."
