Routzahn's to move across shopping center

July 01, 1998

Routzahn's Furniture and Appliance Store is expanding by moving to the other side of the Long Meadow Shopping Center from where it currently is located, a shopping center official said Tuesday.

The furniture store will move from the north end near the bowling alley to the space that once housed a grocery store near Sear's, said Debra Hunt, marketing director for the shopping center.

Routzahn's president could not be reached on Tuesday.

"We're real excited about these renovations," which will coincide with renovations to the entire shopping center, Hunt said. Details on the center's renovation were not available Tuesday, she said.

The center's management, RD Management Corp. of New York City, is seeking a grocery store to go in the space being vacated by Routzahn's, Hunt said.

Routzahn's is to open at its new location this fall, she said.

Long Meadow Eye Care also expanded by taking over the former Reed Jewelers space, Hunt said.

Whether the Long Meadow and Maugansville fire companies will be able to continue holding their annual spring carnival in the shopping center parking lot is up in the air, she said. If the center gets a new tenant that requires a large parking area there might not be room, she said.
