300 block of Garlinger Ave. to close

July 01, 1998

The 300 block of Garlinger Avenue will be closed during the day for the next two to three weeks as crews build a new storm drain to eliminate a dip in the road, a city official said.

Some motorists complained about the dip, which is about eight inches deep and crosses the road, said Assistant City Engineer Rodney Tissue.

Stormwater runs through the dip to a storm drain on the side of the road, Tissue said. Crews will replace it with an underground storm drain.

The block of Garlinger Avenue between Chestnut Street and Guilford Avenue will be closed while crews work between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. during the next two to three weeks, he said.

Low bidder Building Systems Inc., of Hagerstown, will be paid $16,127 to do the work, Tissue said.
