CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Franklin County District Attorney John F. Nelson said Monday he could not comment on which unsolved homicides an investigating grand jury may look into later this year, but some cases on Pennsylvania State Police records remain open:
HEIGHT="6" ALT="* " NATURALSIZEFLAG="0" ALIGN="BOTTOM"> Debra Ray Witmer, 21, of St. Thomas, Pa., was last seen alive on May 27, 1981. Her skeletal remains were found in April 1982 in a quarry near Williamson, Pa., according to police.
HEIGHT="6" ALT="* " NATURALSIZEFLAG="0" ALIGN="BOTTOM"> Freddie W. Brumfield, 18, of Chambersburg, was found dead along Funk Road in Letterkenny Township on Jan. 13, 1995. State police said he was killed by a shotgun blast to the chest.
HEIGHT="6" ALT="* " NATURALSIZEFLAG="0" ALIGN="BOTTOM"> Maryann Stahlman, 24, of Cumberland, Md., was found dead of a gunshot wound to the head in Brush Creek Township, Fulton County, Pa., on Feb. 5, 1997, but her case has connections to Franklin County.
