Williamsport swept by Mt. Airy - Saturday's roundup

MT. AIRY, Md. - Rusty Tritsch had two hits, including a solo home run, for Williamsport, but Post 202 dropped both ends of a doubleheader to Mt. Airy, 3-2 and 11-1.

Zac Couturiaux scored the winning run in the bottom of the sixth for Mt. Airy (8-3 District). J.R. Fitzwater (4-2) pitched a three-hitter in a losing effort for Williamsport (10-9, 5-7 District) in game one.

In game two, Jay Calloway threw a two-hitter with eight strikeouts, and Couturiaux, David Reaver and Mike Harp had two hits each for Mt. Airy.



West End Minor League

Woodpoint Grill 10, St. Lawrence 9: Timothy Leather, Terry Cassidy and had four hits apiece, and John Miller had three hits for Woodpoint Grill.

National Minor League

Paul Crampton Contractors 21, A.E. Sweeney 2: Eric Imes and Ken Feigley combined for a no-hitter with 11 strikeouts to lead Paul Crampton Contractors.

National Little League

Amvets 20, Longmeadow Exxon 8: Bryson Appel had three hits and Adam Dieterich, Tommy Peterson and Danny Rowland had two hits each for Amvets. Patrick Hutzler had three hits and Brad Crouse had two hits for Longmeadow Exxon.

Funkstown 10, Blue Gray 6: Jamie Mullenix had four hits, including a home run, and Brian Gossard had two hits, including a home run, to lead Funkstown. Darren Sweeney and Jason Sutherland had a pair of hits for the winners. Keith Hendershot was 4-for-4 and Justin Marshall had a pair of hits for Blue Gray.

Longmeadow Exxon 12, Elks 11: Wayne Young had four hits and Chris Peterson had two hits, while Brad Crouse struck out 11 to lead Longmeadow Exxon. David Seibert collected two hits and Mike O'Haver homered for Elks.

FOP 17, Pangborn 8: Sean Mertz had three hits and Nick Mertz, Nathan Steelman and Doug Palmer had two hits to lead FOP. Brandon Blahut and Adam Hockensmith had two hits each for Pangborn.

American Little League

Elks 12, Goodwill 2: Kyle Robinson went 3-for-3 with two home runs, and J.J. Myers and Darail Porter had two hits each to lead Elks. James Price had two hits, including a homer, for Goodwill.

Eagles 2, FOP 1: R.C. Myers and Matt Armstrong combined on a one-hitter with 11 strikeouts, and Armstrong had two hits to lead Eagles.

Cubs 6, Blue Jays 2: Josh Barnhart threw a no-hitter with 12 strikeouts and hit a home run to lead the Cubs.

Alsatia 15, American Legion 6: Daniel Plank had four hits for Alsatia, while Danny Ryan had two hits for American Legion.

Exchange 15, Kiwanis 0: Trevor Hullinger and Nick Mellott collected two hits apiece to lead Exchange.

Rotary 10, Alsatia 9: Matt Ridenour had three hits to lead Rotary. Daniel Plank had two hits, including a home run, and Will Mulieri had two hits for Alsatia.

Tigers 9, A's 8: Steven Mowen, Derick Clingerman, Jeremy Newton all had three hits for the Tigers. Byron Younker had a three-run homer and RBI doubled for the A's.

Yankees 10, Pirates 9: Tyler Younker had three hits, including a homer, and Dwight Bard had three hits and three RBIs for the Yankees. Jay Ifert also had two hits. Josh Ruppenthal had a triple and 3 RBIs, and Brad Mellott had two hits for the Pirates.

Nationwide 12, Pete's 0: Chris Cannon had three hits, Bradley Smith, Cory Van Cleave, Robert Bowman and Corey Robinson had two hits each, while Jay Love pitched a one-hitter with 12 strikeouts to lead Nationwide.

Lions 21, Wolfe's 9: Kenny Singhas was 3-for-3 with a home run, Ben Jordan was 3-for-3 and Richard Hovermale struck out nine for Lions. Dustin Bachtell and Jeremy Aruta had two hits apiece for Wolfe's.
